Joelle Wazen, MD received an Undergraduate degree in Medical Laboratory sciences as well as MD degree at the University of Balamand in Beirut, her hometown. She then completed a three-year Research fellowship in Cardiovascular Surgery, Diagnostic as well as Interventional Radiology at the American University of Beirut before starting her Radiology residency at UMass Chan Medical School where she was heavily involved in the New England Roentgen Ray Society and received multiple scholarships including the Introduction to Academic Radiology (ITAR) Workshop as well as a scholarship to attend the Radiology Leadership Institute Summit.
She subsequently became a member of multiple committees including the SIR RFS Health Care Economics and Policies committee, the ACR RFS committee for international outreach and finally the ACR RFS committee for Women and Diversity a role that she maintained throughout her fellowship in Abdominal Imaging at the University of Chicago Medicine. During her fellowship she was involved in the Chicago Radiological Society where she also worked with the founders of the Chicagoland Radiology Expo. She joined the Rad Expo in 2021 as a moderator for DEI and then accepted the role of co-chair for the Radiology Expo. She is now a Body Radiologist at MedStar Health.
